Default 1992 FXR Lowrider VS 1995 FLHTP

2 TOTALLY different bikes, I know, but, is the engine, gearbox, carb and everything power related the same?

If so, why are the HP specs higher on the FLHTP?

I'm anticipating buying a 1992 FXR and I'm thinking about (other than the cam) what I will do to increase the power a bit.

"The Same" is pretty specific. A 92 and 95 are going to be different. The MoCo changed stuff along the way. But they will be basically "the same." So, just buy the one you like best. By the time you do some maintenance and sorting out, performance will be about the same, give or take.

If you are not used to riding a light bike like the fxr, you may just be satisfied with the setup just as it is.

I've had 2 cop bikes a '96 and a '99. The '96 is gone, but it use to haul *** compared to my '93 ultra. And I feel it would have outrun the '99 also. As far as having higher HP, well it's heavier then a FXR so I guess to even to the playing field they may have geared it differently I'm guessing. Add to the fact police bikes have to chase down speeders now and then they have to be able to get moving fast, just like cop cars do.,,

I can't imagine the Yamasuki he has been riding weighs very much.
