clutch basket play
I'm working on getting my '93 fxdwg back to together and I was going to check the compensator sprocket to the clutch basket alignment and I noticed that the clutch basket is moving in and out about 1/16 but it has no side to side play just in and out.The hub nut is tight.I pulled the clutch plates out and spun the hub bearing and it sounds ok and spins free.also the main shaft isn't moving in and out like its supposed to.Is the basket supposed to be able to move like that or is my hub bearing bad ?

I pulled the clutch off and put it on the bench to get a better look at what was moving and it was the bearing floating in the clutch basket.I punched out the hub from the bearing and I took out the snap ring holding the bearing in and the bearing came out with little to no resistance.I think that bearing was supposed to be a press fit in the basket.I guess I need a new basket and a new hub because the snap ring groove on the hub has a 1/2 inch crack in it from either me punching it out or something else.
