Default Removing 1990 evo motor.

In the middle of pulling the motor out of a 1990 FLT . Manual says to remove the 4 primary housing - to - engine mounting bolts but dosent mention if the stator needs to be removed to access them ? Manual says to remove the compensator only ? Am i missing something here ?
Also ... do i need to remove the left footboard and bracket to remove the primary cover ?
Thanks to all .

Depending on the make of footboard you may need to remove it....stator doesn't need to be removed to get at the primary bolts or to remove the primary BUT!!! I would take it off while the motor is still in the frame as they can be a pig to remove against all that magnetism and its gotta come off to pull the motor apart.
