Default Oil baked on muffler, how to get off

When I was puking oil out the breathe like a hose, the oil baked onto the bottom of my right muffler. Regular cleaning stuff doesn't touch it, and I sure don't want to take a razor blade to it. Any suggestions?

#0000 steel wool should do it. I've used with with no problems. I have used it with a splash of wd-40 on the wool for lube.

NOOOO. Easy off oven cleaner.. But that stuff is very toxic, keep it off your skin and don't breath it...

Thanks! I didn't have steel wool, but I had some scotch bright. That WD-40 did the trick, came right off.

Umm, scotch bright was a bad idea... The light is bad right not, and I just wanted the tar off, but scotch bright was a bad idea. Anyone got a set of stock mufflers lying around???
