Just remember what Cowboy said.
He tried and couldn't fix it.
He ended up selling it for a project bike.
That makes me think whatever the fix is it must be a serious PITA and hard to get right.

Gotta true the crank. And have it welded since you're there. Serious PITA, but mostly labor.

Did you try the gas cap trick? Undo the gas cap, roll an Evo underneath, screw the gas cap back on?
(Just trying to help....)

John JZ is correct in my opinion and to have the crank trued and welded is the only real fix. Replace main bearings while its apart.....there is no such thing as an unfixable bike, only bad advice as to the nature of the fault.

You are quite correct!
However it has to be worth fixing before you start.
Not sure a TC qualifies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you had a welded crank and gear drive cams in a TC you would have a happy life

As long as I had my EVO to ride you would be right!!!!!
I don't know if my friends TC has a welded crank but he does have the gear drive cams.
Yes I have ridden it and no it doesn't make me happy.

Has to be trued and welded if he has gear drives, or it was one tight TC out of the box.

Runout is .004. Well within spec. Not perfect, but certainly not enough to take out an oil pump. I'm leaning toward blaming the failure on the unknown pedigree of the pump.
And if it were my bike, the gas cap trick would be a given.....
