Since we're putting some serious cash into parts, I wasn't comfortable with not checking every inch of the innards for debris. Time to split the case.

Texashillcountry came by (I think he was really curious to see the inside of a twinkie), and between the two of us we got it yanked and split. Now I'll put the crank on a proper stand and check the runout, finish checking for debris (already found a bit of a bearing race in the sump), ring, hone and assemble. Should be good to go.

Oh, and an interesting tidbit... It seems that the big end of a twinkie rod assembly is blue, like it's been heat soaked. A bit of googling led to the discovery that this is normal. I just mention it because it'll scare the hell out of you..... ;-)
Very cool. Except for the water pump going bad.

Been calling it a water pump all day. I'll edit that. :-)

Thought I'd take a minute to update this project. She's back together, doing well, and almost ready for the 500 mile oil change. Did find some bearing debris in the crankcase bottom and the oil tank, so we made the right call. Ended up getting a SE lefty bearing upgrade as well. Crank was .0025 on a stand.

Thanks for all the help by all here, and especially THC for lending an additional set of hands and a couple of very handy tools.
