Default 3 Batterys in 3 years what would you do?

This is the 3rd battery in 3 years I have installed on my 98 Fxdl. All were Yussa ytx-20l batterries and since i just put in a new 2nd relay I am wondering if going up to a 30L would help since my compression,10:15, and stroke 4 5/8 T & O, put additional strain on starting system. Any suggestions? Bored to 3.518"

Yea, added strain, but your charging system should keep the battery charged when you ride.....

Maybe a higher torque starter...

Buy a HD battery. Those are Walmart batteries man.

Does it justify the cost? I am still under what a new dealer hd battery would cost after three. Nit by much now.

Have you ever heard of ....you get what you pay for?

NOT saying HD is the best, but using Walmart or the alike batteries will disappoint every time.
The ones your buying are for lawnmowers, etc. not a high compression machines such as our big twin motors.

You need a high cranking amp battery.

I have used batteries from Wal-Mart for at least the last twenty years, and they seemed to be as good as any. They always last me 4 or more years.

With that compression I'd look at a Big Boar battery. You want to talk about expensive, but they work. Also needs the starter as mentioned above. I have an All *****, works great.

the Yussa ytx-20l is a fine battery as far as lasting goes, try to get one with more amps though....I use em and get 6+ years easily...

Can you wire the main switch so you can start it without the lights being on and then switch them on ofter starting.. That's what I did, it struggled on a cold start when the battery was the weakest but with out any lights it started fine....every little amp helps....

When I had charging problems on my EVO it was the connection between the stator and regulator. It was corroded and evidently not always flowing enough current to charge the battery fully every time. Do you have any other symptoms? The first thing that always happened when the battery was down a little is one of the turn signals wouldn't always work. The next thing that happened when it went low was the horn wouldn't work.
