Ultima 6 speed trans mods for Fxr frame
Hi, I'm new to these forums, I am rebuilding my 87 fxlr. I am replacing the drivetrain with a brand new one. I have an ultima 2" flt/fxr open belt drive, an ultima 6 speed transmission and I am getting the cash together for an ultima 113ci engine. Can anybody help with mods I need to make the 6 speed ultima transmission fit. I have seen older post on the forum where it has been done but as the fxr trans case is bolted to the swingarm pivot shaft and the engine case, How do you secure the engine case where it bolts to fxr trans case. Cheers

Welcome to the Evo forum.
Sounds like your looking at a complete softail type transmission that solid mounts to the frame.
You need a touring style rubber mount transmission that bolts to the engine with 2 bolts in front, and supported by the swingarm shaft on the rear of the trans case, if you want to install a compete transmission.
More common is to get the gearset "builders kit" that you install the complete gearset and trap door(pre assembled) into your existing transmission case, does not rerquire removal of the trans case, but does require a few special tools.

Unless you are some kind of awesome fabricator,(and if you had the skills I am speaking of, you wouldn't be on here asking how to do it) you are not going to put a softail type trans in an FXR ...if you already have the trans...your best bet is to pull the gearset and install it in an FXR/touring transmission case.
