Hey, I have a few questiones about the rebuild. I have started the rebuild and have installed the rear cylinder and cylinder head. Everything is torqued down to the right specs. The problem is when I put the pushrods in they stick up to high and the lifters seem to not be moving up and down as I push the front piston down and up. The rocker box will not sit flush on the head to be torqued down on. I had my valves replaced with some Mannley standard sized. I spoke with one person who mentioned getting my valves adjusted since they were new. The weird thing is doing some research I found some people mentioning Harley having hydrolic lifters that are self adjusting. Can you give any clarity to this information? Mainly I am looking for an answer to why the rocker box is not sitting flush, is it because of the lifters not moving. If so, what must I do to the lifters to get them moving again? Since I have new valves, is there some sort of adjustment I must make or will they adjust themselves? Also I was thinking about putting in some better pushrods, ya'll agree or just keep the stock ones?
Thanks
Thanks

The rockers are not sitting flush because the lifters are holding it up.
If you slowly tighten down the rocker box bolts they will compress the lifters and all will be fine.
When I do it I tighten down the 4 rocker arm bolts in an x pattern and only turn them a little at a time till they are all the way down and torqued to spec.
