Welcome. You are on the right track getting a factory manual. Got any pics?

Welcome to the forum.

I wouldn't worry about tools until you get familiar with your bike as in 4 years mine has only broken down twice.
Once for a nail in the rear tire and once for a loosened pushrod (my fault).

I guess what I'm trying to say is EVO's rarely break down.

I carry a bunch of tools but I use them on other peoples bikes.

All you need for most servicing are a set of allen keys, screw-drivers, wrenches and a few sockets, all AF. The battery will probably have 10mm metric terminal fasteners, just to through ya a curve ball.

If pulling the primary apart you will need a Delrin Block Wedge to jam the primary chain (10 bucks of EBay) a reversible torque wrench (one that torques left hand threads) is very useful and sodding great scaffold bar, about 5 feet long for undoing the compensator sprocket nut comes in handy.

As a BMW owner , I believe I'm bound by the code to say, all you need is a large hammer, some vice grips, and duct tape.

But I won't, now that I've gone over to the dark side.

As a BMW owner you only need a box of matches because you won't be able to afford to fix it so just set light to it
