'95 Heritage Wont Start
I posted this over in General Chat (95 Heritage Wont Start), but was told I'd prob get a better response here:
My neighbor has been having issues starting his '95 Heritage Softail, so I told him I'd take a look at it for him later today. Any ideas you guys can throw my way on this model would be appreciated.
What I know so far is that the bike has been sitting for about a month and that it cranks over just fine but won't fire up. He said he has tried shooting a little starting fluid in the carb without any luck and that he wanted to check the fuel filters for plugging but didn't know where they were (I'm not actually 100% myself, but I'm assuming it's located on the petcock assembly). I asked if he had charged the battery recently and he said "no". Told him to do that and give it another try. He says it still wont start.
First few things I plan to check: voltage at the battery, wire connections, spark at the plugs, gas cap vent, dirty air filter, fuses. I agree that the gas quality might be an issue after sitting for a month and that the fuel filter is worth checking, but are there any other simple checks I might be forgetting that you guys can recommend before I go that far? Any particular quirks with this model? Anything like that?
~Thanks.

(flame suit on) a bit of seafoam in the tank may not hurt either.

So much for your statement that you never start the seafoam discussion.

You have said it has sat for a while so charge the battery fully and ensure that it is rolling over fast enough to start .
If all is well as per/above check for spark .
