Default Is this 1994 Ultra Classic worth it?

On Sunday, I was going to check out the following: http://reno.craigslist.org/mcy/4612206748.html.

Some details obtained via email:
-78,000 miles on chassis
-engine rebuilt by HD dealer in WY. Claims to have paperwork, so I hopefull can learn what was done.
- screaming eagle carb and hines exhaust have been added.

Price seems in line with Nada, but seems high to me especially given the mileage.

Should I keep searching?

Thanks.

Not a lot of people looking for a touring bike that old...so his phone ain't ringing off the wall. Worth 4500 -5500 IMO. Make him an offer and leave your number...if he doesn't call move on.

My first reaction is that its a little high.. Although, after saying that, I wouldn't take $10k for my '95, but I have done quite a few upgrades to it.. It drives me nuts how the guy just posted a couple pic's and a link to a video with no description of the bike.. It amazes me how many folks put the least amount of info possible to describe something they are trying to sell for full book price.. For that reason, I'd be a bit suspicious that he's not telling the whole story.. I'd continue looking, but probably go see this one at some point if you're interested.. I doubt it will move fast, time will help to right the price, its already been listed for a month..
By the way, I'd be thinking $6k w/o seeing it, just because of the add..

The miles make it awfully high. Lots of old touring bikes around that never got ridden much. Granted, low mileage barn finds have their own set of issues, but if you can fiddle with hoses and seals and such for a while, you end up with a more valuable ride.

Way over priced for the mileage. 5k-5,500 is reaching if it's really nice in person. But it's worth whatever you're willing to pay

I'd expand your searching area and be patient. Lots of better deals available

Also consider your resale value. In a few years it could hit 100k miles and no one will touch it for more than 3,500

NADA price doesn't consider it's got a fresh motor.

There is a balancing act to be done here, between a chassis that has done the original mileage and the 'new' engine, currently of unknown mileage. Depending on the work done that could have cost up to around 3k dollars. The total mileage shouldn't scare anyone in here! There ain't nuttin' we cain't fix and there isn't much left that can go seriously wrong with the chassis. I can't comment on price asked.

My view is it depends on how bad you want this bike right now.

For that money, there are lower mileage, unmolested examples out there. But they are probably farther away/harder to find/etc.
