New Clutch, no lever tension
#21
Check the clutch release bearing. It goes in the end of the rod and presses against the ball and ramp mechanism. When mine was acting like that, the bearing was completely gone laying in pieces in the trans side door. I didn't realize that was the problem until I replaced the clutch cable and still had no adjustment.

UPDATE
First of all, thanks to all for the great advise.
I finally had time last night to take the right side of the trans off and sure enough, one of the ***** had gone into the next ramp. I reset the ball and ramp, lubed the clutch cable while I had access, adjusted the clutch and we seem to be good to go. I noticed that there is a stress crack in my derby cover ordering a new one today and should be on the road in a couple days.
Thanks again

I installed new Arlen Ness Rad 3 handlebar controls. Put slack in cable, loosened jam nut on clutch pak and backed it off a little for more cable as their directions say. Put back together and now I cannot get the slack out of the cable. Run out of threads. I adjusted clutch pack as manual says, checked the ramp bearings and all is ok. What am I missing? Do I need to get a shorter cable?

Make sure cable adjuster is screwed all the way slack, loosen jam nut and screw clutch pack adjuster all the way in until you feel it bottomed on push rod, screw adjuster in and out a few times to get the feel when bottomed, back off 1/2 turn and lock it down, then adjust cable slack adjuster.
