Default Questions about no mufflers but still have cats

I have a 2012 switchback that i bought in feb of this year and want to go with a different exhaust.. i am looking have either building my own or having on custom built for me. but i am wondering about back presure.. i am a diesel tech so dont know much about it but i know that engines need back presure.. if i leave that cat can i just build from there with enough back preasure still in the system or should i remove the cat and have someone build a mullfer with baffles or something similar to baffles thanks

What are you trying to achieve? You are correct, these engines need some back pressure for best performance. However, many people run straight pipes, no back pressure, for looks and loud sound. Many after market options, why reinvent the wheel.
