Default Road King Vance & Hines

I am currently looking at going from the stock exhaust on a 2013 road king (pictured) to the exhaust on a road king photo I found (silver pictured). I was wondering if there would be any issues with having these short exhaust as they aren't running out past the back of the back. Also, since this doesn't seem standard I was wondering if this would be something Road King owners would not like when I resell it. Please excuse my ignorance in this area as I am a novice rider. Thanks.

Welcome to the Forum From Colorado!
They'll be noisy.
Some may not like them, but if the rest of the bike is attractive enough someone will buy it and change the pipes.

The whole purpose of a Road King is to be faithful to the history and the "look" of a classic Harley-Davidson. It's supposed to be, essentially, a modern reincarnation of a 1950's Harley. Those pipes don't go with the "look" at all.

Don't misunderstand me, though. It's your bike, you get to make it exactly the way you want it to be. But, as long as you're asking...not many Road King owners/buyers will like those pipes.

Thanks for the quick reply.. I am just trying to understand if there is any downside in having the shorter exhaust with a Road King as I have never seen any other Road King with short exhausts.

Thank you for this answer. One of my largest concerns. I want to keep the look and feel of the Road King.

Glad to help. You know, one workaround would be to just keep the stock exhaust system, put on the pipes you like for as long as you own it, and then put the stock back on to sell it.

Those pipes will definitely be in the "really loud" category.

You might sacrifice some low end torque with a shorter pipe, it would benefit from a good tune. Someone with more experience than me could probably shed some light.

Definitely going to be LOUD pipes! I've got a Road King, radius pipes are not my style, but to each their own, you shouldn't let our opinions stop you. As already stated, keep the stock pipes and if you want to sell it, put them back on.

I wouldnt worry about how a Road King is supposed to look. It's your bike. You paid for it, so it's supposed to look like what you want it to look like. Buy the pipes that you want. If they make them for your bike chances are someone else will buy them from you when you don't want them anymore.
