I've been reading and enjoyingthis forum for a while now and finally had a reason to sign up. This is my first post and I have a problem I'm hoping someone can help with. Have an 06 Dyna Street Bob. Came to a stop today after cruisin at interstate speeds for about an hour. The bike wouldn't idle down. No tach but seems to be idling in the 2000 rpm range. Started getting misses and pops after that. Couldn't get over 55 or 60mph. Ran like crap. I went home. Several hours later I started it up and it went straight to the fast idle with the missing. I will call the HD shop on Tuesday but wanted to try to get some reasoning before then. Anyone have any clues?

 

Sounds like an ECM failure....let us know what they find. A manifold air leak will give you a fast idle and popping but not stopping you from exceeding 55mph

 

I doubt you have an ECM failure. Due to the symptoms, sounds more like a throttle position failure or a very rare throttle shaft failure.

Normally just a high idle would be an intake leak, a failed IAC moror or a failed TP, but because you also have driveability issues and cannor get over a certain speed, I place my bet on the TP.
