Default Passenger Heat Shield

Riding a 2010 Fat Boy Special with stock exhaust. The passenger foot peg on the right hand side is located between the exhaust pipes and if passengers place their feet to far inboard while not wearing boots, they will suffer a burn injury in a split second. I had this happen twice and wonder if anyone have come across a heat shield that fits this bike at that position?

Stefan, might be better to ask this in the Softail section, where you should get a better response.

A heat shield is not going to do anything but get hot and do the same thing. Boots for your passengers are a much better idea...

Thinking of some kind of deflector too keep passenger's foot from touching the heat shield. Passengers use boots most of the time but not always.

If you want to protect passengers who don't or won't wear boots, then change your exhaust to one which they can't come into easy contact with!

That's an obvious but expensive solution. Though there may be a simple solution since there are many bikes of the kind out there?

I realise that, but there isn't any heat-shield, attached to the exhaust, which is going to be friendly to unprotected ankles! A further alternative is to make up something yourself, perhaps in polished stainless steel, which say attaches to the footrest, but does not directly contact the exhaust. Even then there is no certainty it will be much better.

Of course I could see a mechanic shop and have one tailor made but I thought I might invent the wheel? The deflector could be attached to the foot board mount (don't have pegs) that protrudes betwwen the pipes, rather than the exhaust and wouldn't become more than lukewarm at most.

I used to have a Fatboy and thought the exact same thing. There should be a shield that could attach to the mount.

I'm surprised there has been such a poor response, you can't be the first FB owner to want a solution to this! A local custom shop may be the quickest solution after all......
