2017 Road King Special with Vance & Hines Power Duals
Hey guys, I'm new to the forum and Harley-Davidson motorcycles. I've ridden sport bikes for most of my life and have spent a lot of time wrenching on them. I just took delivery of my 2017 Road King Special and already bought a Vance & Hines Power Duals head pipe, Hi-output mufflers, Screamin' Eagle high-flow air cleaner and Vance & Hines FP3.
I have a couple of questions:
1) Should I wait till my 1,000 mile service before installing my exhaust and air cleaner assembly? I plan on flashing the ECM with the FP3.
2) For those of you who have installed the Vance & Hines Power Duals, which exhaust gaskets should I use? My dealer's service department recommends the stock Harley tapered gaskets and Vance & Hines recommends either the Vance & Hines or Screamin' Eagle flat-style gaskets. I'd rather do the job once so any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Congrats !
What Color Bike did you get ?
I picked up the First Road King Special My dealer got in 2 weeks ago . It lasted about 4 hours on the show room floor before I came in and scooped it up.
Charcoal Denim with Daymaker Headlight and Rinehart Racing Slip ons.
I am personally holding off till 1k to install the Screaming Eagle Stage 1 Tune and SE Ventilator A/C
Look forward to pics of the Bike..
If you go ahead and install post up a vid

I got my Power Duals. The flanges seem similar to the ones on the stock pipes (not sure if Vance & Hinces changed them from the flat type to the oem type for 2017). Both Vance & Hines and my dealership said to use the stock tapered gaskets. Makes sense since the new pipes have similar flanges to the stock pipes. I'll keep you guys posted, thanks for the input!
BTW, by flange, I mean the lip of the header pipe.
