1995 80cu.in. Dyna: dbKiller for Screaming Eagles?
Hi all,
after much thinking I bit the bullet and went down the Stage 2 route.
Not wanting to change the looks of the bike I replaced the OEM tapered mufflers
with Screaming Eagle Tapered mufflers which look exactly the same as OEM.
The problem is these new S.E. mufflers are much too loud for my taste and will give me a headache after an hour's commuting !
I was considering fitting dbKillers (that's what we call them in Europe) but I'm told
since the tapered mufflers are cone-shaped you can't get the dbkillers inside...
??? What ??? Can't I simply use two bolts... or three ?

No, really.
The neighbors used to smile, now they frown.
AND I really don't want to be flagged down by irate LEO's every other block.
The problem is the S.E. tapereds, on the inside, are like a straight pipe
with only one diagonal baffle at the very beginning (close to the header)
That's why I was considering dbkillers. Incidentally, what do you call them in the US?

OK Thank you.
I looked inside the tapered mufflers before fitting them, they are literally straight pipes with fiberglass filling around it.
There's only ONE baffle, slanted, somewhere at the beginning, with two half-moon air passages top and bottom.
Pretty much like the one in the middle of this drawing
My plan was to fit something like the "slip-in baffle" I pictured in my opening post.
OK so I would have to drill a hole at the end of the muffler - pity that - but I can't go on like this...
