Absolutely need to? No. Should you? Yes. Especially if you've put on a better flowing air cleaner.

I'll tell you I had my short shots on my bike for about 6 months. Hated 'em, and the transmission bracket holding them on actually broke (my bike is a dyna though) the sound is not near as nice as other systems, they're very tinny sounding, and they lack low end power. I installed the quiet baffles and that helped a lot but I was never happy with them other than the looks until I went to a 2-1 pipe. Sorry to rain on your parade, but thats my experience having ran the short shots.

I'm putting the quiet baffles on my short shots tonight and then I'll check with my FP3 to see if I need to remap after... whoever had my low rider before removed all baffles so it is obnoxious, hoping this tames it down until I can swap over to 2 into 1 next season (baby on way = me on a budget ).

My FP3 did have an alternate map from no baffle to stock baffler to quiet baffle. Bike should run much better after. Good Luck!

Sorry to steal this thread but is there a way to add a muffler to the short shots to create a custom 2 to 1 exhaust?

DJ customs sells a 2 to 1 collector part but I don't know if the pipes would line up..
