RE: Ultima Engines?
They are all just EVO clones. If your building a new chopper from the ground up, I would use a JIMS Twin Cam case as the base for a true monster HP brute. S&S,TP,Ultima, though they are all vast improvements on the basic EVO design, the Twin cam still rules. You make more hp per cubic inch with a Twin cam than any other motor(EVO CLONE) currently on the market.

I would also second the above post about using a TC.That being said, alot ,make that SOME builders are now in their 60's and are used to Evo's and shovels and dont have the tools and expertise to go this way.A friend just built a 147"plain bearing, with side by side rods Evo motor thats pretty strong. All good stuff.Bob ....I tried to attach photo but cant, sorry.

At what cost? What would something like that run me?
At what cost? What would something like that run me?
$1100 for the jugs, pistons and gasket
$1000 for the cams, gear drive conversion
$1000 for the timken bearing conversion, case boring etc.
$400 for a quality intake or carb to match the engine.
About $5000 gets you a 107" or 114" twin cam engine that will put down about 140hp and 130 foot pounds of torque. And thats a conservative number on pump gas.

RE: Ultima Engines?
S&S sells a complete 124" TC engine. They claim about 128hp@6,000, and 138 ft/lb@4,000. I have heard that their published dyno charts are very conservative. And if you really wanted that magic 140hp, they could probably give it to you.
I don;t know what the cost is, I'm sure it's more than $5K. But it will last forever. The S&S cases are made for big bores, big strokes, and big numbers. The stock cases are not.
Kind of like a V8 Ford. I can easily get 500-550 hp out of a stock 351W block. It will also last a long time, with a moderate amount of abuse. But for anything more than that, I'll be looking for an aftermarket block with thicker casings, better webbing, 4 bolts mains, etc. You get what you pay for (if you're lucky).
