Valve work is VERY necessary if performance is what your after. Usually the porter will have all this done for you if he is a reputable porter.....polishing is old head science, you'll have to look real hard to find someone that polishes heads any more besides Branch Flo Metrics

Most porters will recommend stage 2, which is a full port, valve job and increase the intake valve to a 1.9" high performance valve. Make sure you tell him which pistons you are using and your desired comp ratio.

The cost will be around $850.00 or so for a full valve job with new valves, springs, and compression ratio set up. All you have to do is bolt them on when you get them back. Tell the porter what cam and pistons your running.
I use Baisley Hi-Performance or Dewey's Pegs. Short Block Charlies (SBC) does a good job too. Hillside Cycles does heads also.

www.bigboyzcycles.com

$299 = port/polish the heads and a performance valve job
$70 = mill the heads for equal compression and increase compression
$25 = cc the heads to measure the chambers before milling

Bean is the man when it comes to no-nonsense head work............he won't sell you crap you'll never need, and his prices don't break the bank.

Give Bean a call to discuss your build and you'll be impressed by him for sure.

Valve job (grinding the valves and seats should be done after porting)Good power can be made with stock valve sizes. The secret is volocity this helps with cylinder fill.Keeping things a little on the mild side makes for a better street bike. And with proper care will live a long life.Remember every street has a speed limit, you have to make power in the low to midrange of the power band.

The valve job is one of the last of what is established when we are doing cylinder head work, ccing being the very last, prior to assembly. It is a VERY important part of what is going on with the head.
