Default SE 103 with HTCC's

Has anyone done the 103 SE build that calls for the posrted HTCC heads, HTCC forged pistons, 50MM EFI throttle body and SE-260 Cams. I'm considering this on an 07/08 96". I know that there is likely more power from other custom builders packages but was wondering if anyone had done this particular and had good results. I'd be using this on a Dyna. I also like the idea that the SERT has a tune for their packages ready to plug in.

i had one with the exception it was carburated. it was mediocre and i even had a harley dealership go through it with only modest results. i sold the htcc heads and pistons and replaced with ported heads and appropriate pistons - changed cams -- and it is far better. there is absolutely no comparison between the two. admittedly, there are some cnc ported htcc builds out there that are strong, but just as many that are disappointing for the investment. mine was certainly not a performance engine. i debated a long time about pulling the htcc components and even tried once to get more performance. i wish i had replaced them from the very beginning. far too inconsistent for me.

I have a set of 260 cams with 10,000 miles on them I'll sell to you for a hundred bucks plus shipping, They're in fine shape. I just went to a tw6hg. I was getting 95hp & 103Tq in my 103 w SE heads & SE Slipons.

Your OEM castings will show you the way set up correctly.
We have daily conversations with folks that go the route of S/E performance parts. Sometimes it is hard to convince someone that the grass is truley greener on this side of the bar and shield door, especially when joe-blow saleman is setting you up with "power" for only an additional $14.91 month extra on your payment. Sad but true.

i've got just a straight 95" build (that came from hillside cycles)on a 01 fxdl - mild porting of heads, cam change with gear drive, programmable ignition, cylinders bored out to 3.875 to match pistons, flat top pistons for lower compression build -- and that bike will run absolute circles around the screamin eagle 103 engine (cnc ported htcc heads, forged htcc pistons, 260 cams, etc) that i had in another bike. it will also run away from the screamin eagle 113 and cvo 110 packages a few guys around here have that harley offers.

unless you are really concerned over an existing warranty program with harley davidson on your bike now, spend your money with a reputable shop like hillside cycle, head-quarters, gmr performance, r&r cycles, king of cubes, or some of the other vendors here - you will be far ahead and get much more for your investment.

Appreciate the advice. After doing a ton of reading on these forums I'm convinced that the SE "prescribed" builds don't satisfy many guys for the cost. It seems like more than a few with SE stuff later go with an aftermarket build package. Not looking to set any dyno records with a build on my factory 96". 110 on HP and TQ would be great. I'd like to do it with a fixed length pushrod and have access to a good SERT file from the builder as there isn't anyone around here(that we know of) who is a credible tuner. Thanks.
