Default What else needed with a cam?

So if I go with a cam change (either a SE-203 or HQ-0034), adjustable push rods, new tensioners, and all the misc. gaskets etc., and I already have a stage one down load, V&H true duals & a Terry's Terminal VelocityII EFI system, will I need a SERT, or a ECM reflash, or a down load or what? This is the part that I don't quite get. You experience will be appreciated.
Also, with my low milage do INEED to change lifters?

I had the same question for my 2001 SE RG and decided to order new lifters. As mine is a 2001 I may have the older syle anyway so I felt is was a good move. I think it is a good idea to change lifters with a cam. I would also change the inner cam bearings to the Torrington B-148 ones. I am not sure about the download.

I agree with the above but would recommend the SE 204 if your going with a SE cam. It's a better design than the 203. An Andrews TW21 or TW26 or theHQwouldall be good ones depending on where you want your torque. You can go to: http://www.nightrider.com/biketech/selectcam.htm for a lot of good information on selecting a cam.

I would change the lifters also. You will need a different map in your Terminal Velocity fuel management system to compensate for the cam change.

Dawg,
A Terry's Components Terminal Velocity System does not take maps or down loads. It changes the OEM EFI system from a open loop to a closed loop system & automatically adjusts the air fuel mixture up to 500 times a second. I need to know if I am going to meed any change tot he ECM stage 1 down load in relation to the ignition timing.

I am comfortable with my fuel management system.

I have to assume that all you guys with SERTs are for any timing changes you need.

You should contact Terry Components regarding the fuel managment issue. They may suggest a reflash. I have HQ-0034s in my 88 and am very pleased with them--very fast reving, though I don't hot rod my bike. reksul on HDF has the 204s and had it SERT tuned by my friend and is very happy with his 95.
