does anyone make an adaptor to use a carb gas tank on a fuel injected 2002 ?

 

Does anyone make an adaptor to convert a carb tank to go on a fuel injected model?

I used an FI tank on my carb'd 2004 FXD with no conversion problems, everything bolted right up including the adapter for the fuel petcock. I'm not sure it goes the other way as easily.

 

You can not put a carbed tank on a FI bike. There is no opening in a carbed tank for the fuel pump.

 

XXX, are you sure? The parts book for my 2004 Dyna shows the same part # for the FI and Carb tanks.

 

Maybe so for the Dyna's. As long as it has a hole in the center of the tank for the fuel pump, it should work. I know that Dressers use two different tanks.

 

Also injected bikes need a return fuel line back to the tank, so you will need and extra hole in the bottom of your tank.

 

Not for Delphi injected bikes. Delphi tanks only have one hole in the bottom.

 

I have an '04 Dyna and the part #s are the same for the tanks. At least for an 04 - 05 model year.

 

I've got the older MM injection and have 2 bungs on the bottom of my tank, didn't know delphi only had one, thanks learn something new everyday
