The screw is in the back of the carb. You will see a tower, (so to speak) next to the float bowl with an aluminum plug in it. This must be removed to access the air screw. I had to remove my carb to drill out the plug. You "may" not have to do this if you have a drill with an angled head, and yes, to open it or richen the mixture, turn screw counter clockwise or left as you say. Good luck...
its better to take off the carb so you can see what you're doing barely drill through or you'll hit the screw with the drill bit I used an 1/8 inch bit then ran a sheet metal screw in far enough to grip the plug then wiggled it back and forth as I pulled on it
