Default Evo Rocker Gasket replacement procedures

I have an oil leak in mylower rocker cover gasket. Can I pull thebolts from theouter rocker covers, lift the covers slightly and slide them out while the engine is still in the frame? Or is this going to be an engine out project?

Thanks,

Craig

Hi Craig,

If your bike is a Softail Evo one, I can tell you what you must do looking at the service manual I have. It's not a difficult thing to do and you can do it with the engine in the frame. If you are interested, I can send you a photo of the Service Manual pages you need to do this job the next Monday.

I looked at it again this morning and realized that the oil is coming from under the rocker Arm assembly. I have a service manual but it says to remove the engine. Looking at the manual, it looks like I might be able to do it in the frame. Just wondering if someone could tell me for sure.
How far do I need to dis-assemble to get to the point of fixing this oil leak?

Craig

What are the procedures to change the gasket between the Rocker arm assembly and the cylinder?
I know I need to pull the two upper rocker covers off. If I turn the engine so that all valves are closed, can I just unbolt the rocker assembly and pull it off? Or am I going to have to remove the rocker arms, push rods, etc?
