Default TC88 Heads vs TC96 Heads

I have a set of TC88 heads that I had 1.94 intake and 1.65 exhaust valves installed, plus guides, springs for up to .700 lift, cm retainers, combustion area polished and cc'd as well as ported intake and exhaust runners. They made good hp (111) and tq (113) on a build that I did on a Wide Glide. I removed them and had another set done with 2" intakes, made more hp (113) and tq (116).

I have a 2008 Street Glide that I am going to build a TC103. Can the TC 88 heads be used on a TC96 engine?

Yes, but you'll probably need the older style of intake manifold, depending on the year of your heads.

The ported heads are from a 2002 carbureted engine. My 2008 has fuel injection. Do I need a intake for the 02 fuel inj. ? or will my intake work from my 08?

the intake flanges are different on the heads between those years, anything 05 or earlier should work - can someone else verify?

Thanks for the correction, SEDELUXE

I'm pretty certain all earlier than '08 heads do not have the provision for the top-front motor mount the '08s have, so I think the earlier heads will not work on the '08 SG

The earlier heads have the boss but it is not drilled and tapped so no, stock heads from 07 and back will not actually fit on an 08.

The intakes are intrchangeable through all years, but the 06 and up have a different bolt pattern soif using pre 06 heads, you just have to change the flanges, same if using 06 and later heads with a pre 06 throttle body, just change the flanges.

I just installed 96 heads on a TC 88 and it worked perfectly. I used the stock 2002 88 flanges on the 2008 96" heads and everything else was Identical as far as the install goes. Havn't dyno'd it yet but it seems pretty quick.

Stock 06 and up heads do flow a bit better than stock pre 06 heads.
