Santee fishtail mufflers
I'm trying to choose between Samson Silver Bullet fishtails or Santee fishtail mufflers. My dad has a set of Samson Silver Bullet mufflers on his King. It sounds good but I'm looking for something a little louder. I've also considered the Samson Hollow Fishtail. Does anyone have any information or opinon about these mufflers.

RE: Santee fishtail mufflers
I used to run Sampson straight fishtails on a heritage I had, and to be honest, they sounded like crap to my taste. Most fishtails cause a disturbance on exhaust gas that causes a really wicked BOP BOP BOP BOP when you let off the throttle. Also, from what I've read, most fishtail, those being straight, no baffles, cause more power loss that non fishtail straights. Look great though, I'll give ya that. Currently on my Deluxe I'm running Vance and Hines with fishtail caps. The fishtails are a lot smaller than the sampson pipes though, so they don't sound bad at all. In fact, they are the best sounding pipes I've had.

RE: Santee fishtail mufflers
I have a friend that runs the straight fishtails. I agree the don't sound very good and they're very, very lound. The fishtails do produce a differant sound but in order to get the old school look, I'm really stuck on the idea of having them. I have an 05' springer classic. Maybe I didn't look hard enough but I couldnt find any Vance & Hines mufflers that work w/ the stock exhaust hangers. I'm probably going to buy the Bassani Power Curve True Duals. The mufflers are the problem.
