Default help with upper end chirp/squeak

I have a noise that has just started developing over the last few rides. There is a chirp/squeak coming from the upper end of my bike. (2002 TC 96, cam, heads) Bike runs great and the noise comes and goes. It will be very loud sometimes at idle and will fade when you get going and not be there when the bike warms up but will sometimes return. The noise is in sync with the engine RPM's and sounds like it is coming from the valve train. I'm thinking rocker arm bushing. Anyone else have any ideas that it might be?

Thanks!

I have heard the same type of noise when a lifter is failing. The needle bearings start to self destruct and the roller squeals like hell. The noise will travel up the tubes and sound like top end noise.

Definitely check lifters, and rocker bushings if not a lifter.

boy - this is exactly the issue im having right now with my 07 TC96 - 36k miles - Stock heads/cam, etc - I would describe the noise exactly the same.

Just recently had it dyno tuned.

Only other things worth menitoning are it seems to stumble off line at times, and also seems like fast idle.

any thoughts?
