Default Andrews 21H or 26H for 09 Dyna

Joe Minton had a nice article about cams in the Feb. 2010 issue of American Rider Magazine. He says that the 21H is the cam he would choose for almost any purpose. He says the difference between the two is that the 26h comes on 600 rpm later than the 21h.

If you want low end grunt, wouldn't the 21h be a better choice?
Why is the 26H so popular in the crowd that wants low end torque when it seems that the 21h would be the better choice? I'm just curious because I'm getting rid of my Red Shift 575's and am trying to decide between these two cams for my Fat Bob with stage 1. I like the power down low, the 575's came to life to late and were way to loud (tick tick tick) for my taste. What do you guys think?

In general, 26's and 37's are recommended for the lighter bikes like your Dyna. imo - it does not matter much on the bike, they all weigh a lot. It depends more on how you ride, where you want your tq, if you ride 2up...

48's are new. Have not read about them being installed or any reviews, yet. It may be worth waiting for... hard to say.

We like the Wood 6, or 7H, with a 4* advance gear.

Are the Woods cams loud? I don't want the loud ticking anymore like I have from my current cams.

Haven't had any noise issues, sure the gear drive makes a little whine. But these Woods cams are VERY TORQUEY!!! All you do is just try to HANG-ON!!!

I guess I'm going to trust the advice from Joe Minton and put in the Andrews 21H, that way the torque will be down low for good cruising in all gears. I figure the man must know his stuff, after all he helped to develop and test cams for Harleys for the last 28 years. I hope he's right.

That 21 is a schoolbus cam. Baggers, 2-up, tugging a trailer, irregardless of what 'ol Joe says.

It's your call, it's either Joe Minton's advice or Bob Wood's. Me, i'll stick with the MASTER MR. WOOD'S! Torque is where it's at baby, i can hardly hold on to this BEAST of mine!!!
