Default Good Down Low Quiet Cam

I know asking, "what is the best cam" is like asking what is the best oil, but i'd love to get some input from you guys in making a decision.

'07 Road King, running a SE Heavy Breather, Rinehart True Duals and a FuelMoto PC-V.

What I'm after is a good bottom end cam, on the quieter side (important) and I'll be using the stock pushrods..

Thanks in advance gentleman.........

Tons of threads out there, but many report the SE255 to be quiet, the Andrews 26 was quiet for me, and Andrews has a new 48 out that is very similar to the SE255 in specs and should be a good bagger cam (no report on noise though). Some swear by the Wood 6-6 (you would probably want to run it with a 4* advance on an otherwise stock 96") and say they are quiet, others say they are noisy. Noise is pretty subjective anyway...

I'm not an expert on re-using the stock pushrods, but I believe all the ones I mentioned (and several I didn't) are "bolt in" which usually means stock pushrods are ok to use. There are a lot of engine guru's out here with more know-how than I have so I'm sure they will correct anything I might have mis-stated.

I just had a set of Andrews 21H's put in my Fat Bob and love it. Great low end torque and valve train noise is comparable to stock. If you use the stock pushrods you will have to pull the gas tank and rocker boxes off. The reason alot of people use the adjustable push rods is because it saves alot of labor, you don't have to touch the top end at all. I have a thread titled "Andrews 21H or 26H for 09 Dyna?" that has quite a bit of info in it. The 21H is actually recommended for a heavier bike like yours.

Why quite?? Performance is always gonna mean more noise... Personally I love the sound of a cam loping and the valve train clattering. Its a harley its gonna make noise regardless. Same thing if you would sit on a nice 350 with a cam.... To your question though, Ive heard alot of good things about the andrews 21 and 26. If your gonna stay stage one with cams. If you bump up to a 103 with headwork your probably gonna want more. If you went with the woods 6 with the 4* advance you could always remove the advance if/when you add displacement and headwork.. Just my opinion though. Ive got a higher compression 95" with ss 570 gear drives. You can definitely tell its a higher lift motor. Music to my ears though!!
