Default Keihin CV Fuel inlet elbow

Hi everybody,

It is my firts time on this forum and I would like to inroduce myself:

I am a HD rider for 17 years now and I am still having my 1st bike (XLH883 1993). As everyone here I live my passion as soon as I can (I am married now with children...) and the thing I really like is doing the maintenance (or more) of my bike and today I need your help.

the origin Keihin Cv fuel inlet elbow is dropping and I need to replace it. I ordered a new fuel inlet but I really don't know how to remove the old one and insert in the carburetor the new one. Does any one could help me? If someone has a detailed procedure it will be very helpful.

Thank you in advance for your help.

If you are replacing the plastic elbow, you should replace it with a brass unit. Check out the link below for a hi-flow unit and the remove/install procedure.

The Drag units are brass, and are also offered in stainless. 48.00 for those.

Hi guys,
thanks so much for your replies. I am replacing the plastic fuel elbow and I will order the brass unit in order to have a reliable part on my cv carb.
Does anyone knows where I could order it? I need to ship it overseas (south of France). Here I have just found plastic fuel elbow.

Thanks again for your Help

The link in #3 has been upgraded; check the below link. Brass elbow is $17.99, JCP can mail it to you. Call them and place order.

Hi everybody,
I finally succeed with the help of a retired man who knows very well Keihin cv carbs:
1) Remove the carb bowl
2) Insert manually the fuel elbow in the right position and place the carb with the fuel elbow in a bench vice
3) Use a hot air gun for heat-shrinkable sleeve on the part where you want to insert the elbow
4) screw gently the bench vice while you heat the carb.

That worked perfectly for me.

nb: sorry for my english but I am not sure I used all appropriate technical terms to describe the procedure. In any case I hope you will understand it and that could be helpful.
