I did get a chance to talk to chaz. Have to talk to my mechanic tomorrow.

I knew someone would bring it up eventually... He said no point in going over 97 inches with the exhaust that I have. He reccomended cycle shack. Any other suggestions? My current setup is springer headpipe and SE mufflers with fishtails... He says that just isn't good...

I forgot about your pipes, and Chaz is right. He knows what he is talking about and I would listen to him if I were you. I think your head pipes are OK; Cycle Shack skipons are good.

I am telllin ya, the build process is one decision after another and there is always a tradeoff. If you want to keep your pipes, you can still build a respectable running engine. If you are just looking to get 100/100 or near, no problem achieving that goal with 97"; cheaper too. This will be the first or many forks in this road. This is why so many guys have to do this twice to get it right. At least you are trying to look ahead and plan.

You really need to get the complete build down on paper. Otherwise, you are going to get in the middle of it and make a call and find out something that you will wish you had kown before you sent your heads out for porting, or before you bought those cams, etc. Axtell can put together a complete package for you, 97" or 107", results are predictable and all you need is labor and tune. Do it once; do it right.

I am really leaning towards the 107. The cost adds up no matter what... Between the kit, the crank, labor, and diamond cut... What's a new exhaust to go with it all???

Things are looking good for this- the bank likes it, the mechanic likes it, and I like it. Still not what I wanted to do this summer, but the wheels are in motion to get my wheels back in motion!

Anyone have a couple good pics of Axtell cylinders installed?

Reading over your thread. Here's my Axtell cylinders w/diamond cuts installed. FWIW.

Thanks for the pics! It's gonna be pretty cool when this is done! I will probably start a new thread about the actual build once parts start rolling in- The diamond cut will be one of the first things to get done! Can't wait!

Are you happy with your stuff from axtell? How much did the diamond cut end up costing? I just budgeted from info on their website, I am waiting for a call back from them tomorrow.

I'm very happy with the Axtell jugs. I have over 25000 miles on em with no issues.

I had my diamond cut done by an individual who can no longer offer this service. The big dog outfit sued in federal court saying it's a patent issue. The diamond cutting offers a cooling advantage, don't ya know. Sounded like bs to me, more like they did not want any competition. I will not use that company for diamond cutting regardless. Sorry for the rant.
