Default California emissions black box

***Found answer by searching "emissions canister" instead of "harley emissions can".

I'm in Wisconsin and my bike was originally from California, a 2004 Lowrider. There is a black "can" on the front, bottom of my frame that is on no other bikes that I've seen in my area. A mechanic seen it and asked me if the bike was originally from California, then informed me it was some sort of emission control.

Anyone seen these? Any steps to remove it?

It prevents gasoline vapors from going into the atmosphere. It has no effect on performance, so Touring riders don't bother removing it. In your case, I'd remove it and find a different way to "vent"...

Default Cal Emissions Box

Does anyone know if a new exhaust and air cleaner upgrade is or will be affected by the Cal Emissions Box on the front of the bike?

It has absolutely no effect on anything except preventing gas vapors from escaping. Just leave it there and forget about it.

Looks like crap on a Dyna. A lot of owners remove those the day they get the thing home from the dealer. F California and the horse CARB rode in on. Give me a 49 State bike.
