Default EFI to Carb Mod

I am removing the EFI from my 2010 FXDWG and going with a CV carb. My engine is stock. I have V&H Short Shots. I also have a Johnson Engine Technology Air Stack. What size carb would be best - the 44mm SE unit or the 40mm that was used on stock HD's for years?

I appreciate your input.

Since no mods have been done to engine, I would use 40MM.

Dave

How far have you thought this through ...? There are a couple of guys on the Dyna forum who have converted from EFI to carb ... not sure what carbs they used ...

Does the '10 Wide Glide use the "CAN Bus" solid state electronics system ...? There are several 'work arounds' that you'll need to do when converting to a carb ...

I'll see if I can locate a thread on the subject and post a link ...

I did the same conversion on my 2006 roadking, bought a new wiring harness from harley, a mikuni 42 mm carb a new ignition module and coil, and a petcock adapter, the whole job took me about 4 hrs of work and the bike has never run better

In this thread ... https://www.hdforums.com/forum/dyna-...g-my-dyna.html ... forum member CountryPunk discusses his EFI to Carb conversion ...

In this thread ... https://www.hdforums.com/forum/dyna-...questions.html ... BrassHole queries the Dyna forum about how to convert ... quite a bit of response with a few guys providing answers ... forum member reded talked about a couple of conversions he was involved with ...

https://www.hdforums.com/forum/dyna-...p-my-fxdb.html ... this thread was not about EFI to carb conversion specifically ... but, it was observed that forum member YocumBros bike was converted to carb and he answered a question about his experience ... plus it is a damn cool bike ...

If you're not getting good responses on here or any of the threads I linked to, you might try PMing some of the forum members who appear to be knowledgable on the subject and see if they'll respond directly to your questions ...

Good luck,

I first have to ask, why change? there is nothing the carb can do that the efi cant do as well or better. It's a huge step backward IMHO

Then don't perform the mod. Enjoy what you have. I do not enjoy what I have and want to perform the mod.

I appreciate everyone's responses and I have gained the knowledge I was looking for.
