Default Finding Exhaust Leak at Header.

I recently put on a set of Screamin' Eagle slip-ons on a stock 2006 Softail Standard with EFI. Injectors replaced from 8 to 25.

Did not change AC but I am getting some decel popping.

I was really yanking on the header pipe since I didn't remove it to put on the new slip-ons, the OEMs where a bitch to get off. How can you tell if there is an Exhaust Leak at Header? TIP / TRICKS

The popping I get comes and goes weird. Temperature for bike when the weather is 50 degrees weather, 250 in stop and go traffic and about 230 on the freeway.

I think may I have a exhauts leak or slightly lean condition. I have read that decel popping will not hurt the engine. If I find no leak should I just enjoy the ride.

Thanks All - Ready for Spring 2007.

Did you make sure the connection between slip ons and pipe is tight? A good way to check to see if it is leaking at the mufflers is to get down and look underneath and if you see black soot you know there is a leak at the muffs. Also you might want to check the spark plug gap and make sure it is in spec. I gapped mine right at 04 and it cleared up some popping that I had. Another time I had some popping and I found one muffler to not have a good seal as I was seeing that black soot under the pipe at the joint. You can also check the nuts at the header flange to see if they are tight.

Hold a rag over one pipe at a time. Just do it really quick, you will hear if there is a leak.
You could also try with a COLD bike, start up and feel for it with your hand.
