Default What would you do?

Seeing how this great economy has put a damper on my income I am trying to decide on what would be best to use my money on. I see so many switching their old compensator out for the new SE compensator. My 2007 SG hasn't had any issues with the stock compensator but the bike has 25,000 miles and the little voice in my head keeps saying to upgrade the compensator and replace the Inner Primary Bearing while I'm at it. However, I have been wanting new handle-bars for my own personal comfort. So what would you do, upgrade the compensator for peace of mind when on the road or go for the handle-bars and the comfort factor?

If it ain't broke.............................. Not all compensators are going t!ts up; you may be one of tthe lucky ones. If you are worried, pull the outer primary and take a look. The compensator failure is usually preceded by a warning, so if you aren't hearing any thing unusual, wait for the warning and then replace it.

yeah, get the new bars.

I'm still running my stock comp and I have 83,000+ on it. Over 30,000 as a 117!

The SE comp I bought was broke, so I sent it back and re-installed my stock comp. besides, I see many posts about the SE comps being junk, so I'm waiting for the next version.

Question Which would make you happier?

Would you be happier riding with new bars and worrying about the compensator and bearing taking a dump on you or riding without new bars and the without the worry of the compensator and bearing taking a dump on you?

A wise man once said, "A mans got to know his limitations."

Good luck.

I ride my '07 with over 40,000 miles all over and it still has the stock compensator sprocket. I won't change it until it fails, but I'm guessing it never will. If you're scared your bike will break, get a boat. They always break and give you something to worry about.

Twin cam Harleys are damn good bikes. For every guy bitching about their bike, there are a hundred riding around grinning.

That "wise man" was Dirty Harry. Dirty Harry wasn't real and I never saw him ride a Harley.

If it was giving you a problem or you were going to be in the primary for another reason then I would do it since it is concerning you. Do the handlebars and get comfortable. Being comfortable while riding can make a big difference on the amount of joy you experience.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it! Invest in gas and ride it!
