My stock '62 tanks have the shutoff on the left tank but it doesn't work. I want to take it out of the tank but don't know how to get the piece off the top. It turns but not sure how to get it out. It doesn't go all the way thru the tank. Looks like at some point it was cut. Bottom piece looks like it just screws out. Tanks came with an after market replacement shutoff so I want to put it in the tank. Anyone with experience with this? Thanks.

 

You have to take the seat out at the bottom of the tank where the cross over line is to get the rod out. You cannot take the rod out the top.
