98 Electra Glide 80 EVO - Big Bore upgrade
My 98 EG with an 80" has 60,000 miles on it and the base gaskets are leaking pretty good. I am thinking of doing a big bore upgrade, like what Revolution Performance offers...an 80" to 100" upgrade. I have a couple of questions to bounce:
1) I am still working with the factory carb...do I NEED to upgrade the carb? I would like to eventually upgrade to a Mikuni, but not sure I will do that now.
2) I plan on getting the heads redone, but do I need to upgrade the crank or anything else in your opinion? Trying not to break the bank in one sweep.
3) Any other tips, obstacles, recommendations form experienced others when doing this?
Thanks!
MT

We've built a lot of 97" Shovels and Evo's over the many years in business.
3 13/16" Axtell cylinder kit
Our Stage II, or III Evo heads
Re-balance crank
S&S E or G carb with Thunderjet
Cam and compression for the intended riding needs
Smooth power, with great longivity.

If more gusto is wanted, then a 4 5/8" crank, with the 3 13/16" hole, and then you have a 106". 5" stroke will have you at 114".
Built one of those a few years back for a local client.
S&S head castings, Wood 9F, G carb, 2" pipes. 130/130.
Anywhere, anytime, in the rpm band it is "on".
You are not waiting for the bike, but rather it is waiting for you.
Plenty of marterial in those cases to bore to the spigot clearence dimensions per Axtell.
