Default EFI Coversion or 98" cylinders

Looking for advice.
I have a 2000 MM EFI road king with 95" kit, SE CNC heads, 37G cams. Does it make more sense to install a carb or 98" cylinders. What would the cost /performance advantages be. If any

Thanks

you already have good parts in the engine. The stock MM EFI Is crap.. Yeah it is cheaper to convert to a carb but A good EFI System is the way to go. I have converted 2 bikes using the complete S&S Single bore EFI conversion kits and the results are night and day. Zippers also makes a complete kit as well. expect to spend about $2000 for the kit plus the labor to install if you do not have the capabilities.Going from 95 to 98 you wont even notice it.

Welcome to HDF from the UK. It is not true that MM is crap, it just isn't as tunable as the later systems. If your bike has been set up well and is running fine at present I doubt if you will gain much changing anything you mention! If you want even more performance I suggest talking to a competent tuning shop and ask their advice on what further changes you can make. Your engine already has a fairly expensive set-up and any worthwhile changes may need you to dig deep!

A good tuner can work with the MM EFI; certainly not the best but I can't see spending $2K to convert to another EFI system. Plenty of MM EFI systems supporting similar builds.

One thing you might consider is taking advantage of the .585" lift the CNC heads offer. A cam change, more compression and perhaps an exhaust upgrade, along with a good tune of course, will wake things up for much less than $2K.

I agree with the last 2 posts, the mm efi aint the best, but it can be worked with on a milder build.go 98" with mild 1.900 headwork, set the compression @ 10.0-1 and get S&S .570 cams.youll be very happy!

Use the Harley replacement blank 41000012A ECM which is tunable. It is the same as the S&S VFI and works with the stock throttle body. You can also buy the S&S closed loop system for ~ $300 and add it to the system.

A good tuner can work with that Magnetti-Marrelli system.
Dan Thayer of Thayers Sales & Service, Corfu, N.Y., has tuned our 98"/37 cam/Stage II Head combo's to 108/111, but those were single bore Delphi's.
www.joescyclerepair.com, just north of Albany, N.Y., works with those MM systems quite well.
