Default Andrews Tc88 cam upgrade #s...

Is the Andrews list of HD part numbers still a good list to use or are there any updated parts? Oil pumps etc.....the screamin eagle kits now have an improved pump. Was wondering if the new models have a better pump or anything. Looking to put together the 07 and up parts.

Thanks Brian

Are you just doing cams? if so just do the bearings, tensioners...As your oil pump gone bad?

Have 40k on bike. Pulled cam cover, stock tensioners look rather decent yet. About .060" wear, but you can see the chunks coming out. I have tossed around the idea of the cyco tensioners too. Or stock replacement......
Really debating on changing bearing and tensioners or just upgrade to the hydraulic setup and be done. More than likely change cams and lifters too while i am there, and thinking about a big bore also.

I can do all work myself so it seems the 07 n up upgrade is not that much more money purchased 20% off. If i are indeed replacing cams. If I dont, Then just a tensioner/bearing replacement is much less $$. I havnt pulled tbe camplate out, just checked tensioners, so i dont know if i will find any cam problems or not. But its hard not to change out those 06 emissions cams while they are out!

So the long answer to your question is above...Short answer....Im not entirely sure, but I would like to know if the andrews list is the best parts for the upgrade. If there is new stuff then id like to make sure i am aware of it before pricing and deciding what to do.

They dont appear to be at a "need" to do stage. But they seem to degrade quickly at the point they are at from what i have read.

Damn, that looks pretty good for 40k...i would replace the inner bearing since you are opening it up...The Cyco shoes look really good. If i keep the 02 Dyna that is what i will put in there...Are you going through the top or cutting the rods? If you are conna cut the rods then there is no need to buy the whole kit because you will have so much stuff leftover...you will need some orings and the cam cover gasket...The andrews 26H is a good cam for the 88ci. If your oil pump is working fine just leave it alone...You will have to press the cams out of the plate and back in...If you don't have a press take it to a Indy shop, that souldn't take too long to do for them.

26037-06 is the PN that has been in the list of parts for the Andrews kit; don't know if it has changed or not. That is the same pump that is included in the SE Hybrid kit. There has been an upgrade to that pump, PN 62400001 IIRC. Neither of those upgraded pumps are compatible with the '99-'06 TC88 cam plate.

So, the only way you get the most current pump would be to order all the parts on the Andrews list except the oil pump and order it separately. The 62400001 pump is about $112 with a 20% discount.

To be completely honest, if cost is an issue, replace the tensioners with the CYCO tensioners, upgrade the inner cam bearings to Torrington B148s, if you upgrade cams, replace the outer cam bearings but remember a roller bearing belongs in the rear and a ball bearing belongs in the front for the chain drive setup; they are not the same. Run the OEM pump; it is adequate. The Harley oil system is all about volume, not pressure.

Gear drive is another way to solve the problem and won't cost much more than the SE hydraulic upgrade.

There are several good cam choices available but the S&S 509 would be a good choice for the TC88; plenty others available if you go to 95".
