Default Exhaust Systems for 124ci S&S motor

Hi,

This is my firt post on this message board, and I appreciate any help. I have a 1995 Fatboy with a 124ci S&S motor with an Ultima Open Primary. Originally I wanted to do a dual exhaust with fishtails however I don't believe the pipes will fit, so I decided to do upswept fishtails. Will a set of exhaust pipes for a stock evo fatboy motor fit the 124ci motor, or is the S&S motor slightly different????

I have an S&S motor and the exhaust ports are in the stock place, so any stock or aftermarket exhaust will fit. Only the S&S 145", plus custom builds with special heads, require a custom exhaust.

MadBobber,

Get some larger diam pipes and let that motor breathe. I used the evo style smaller Thunderheader on my 124 while wating for my new pipe with 2" primaries to come in. What a difference in midrange-upper end power.

I was in Moncton last August getting an oil change at Toys for Big Boys while on my way to see a friend in New Waterford. Nice town nice people they took me right in no problem. Ramsay's in Sydney set me up with a new rear tire before I hit the trail as well. Can't wait to get back up your way beautiful riding there.

Just curious..... why would you put this big motor on the bike (obviously looking for a bunch of power) and not put a 2 into 1 header on it?

With 125 odd horsepower on hand, giving up 10 or so HP for a diff look/sound is a minor tradeoff. Lots of slasher/monster/pounder/ style pipes get sold just for that reason. Best performance is from a 2:1 thats why I run a RB Racing Pro Stock 2:1 on my 124. All out performance.

I actually have a 2 in 1 Supertrap on the bike right now, it sounds great and performance is great, but I want to change up the style of the bike and have decided to go with a more 70's style. I'll post some pics in the near future. I was thinking of buying the Pauchgo Upswept Fishtails, but I believe they are 1 3/4" pipes. Any thoughts on whether that would restrict the motor too much? I am okay with a slight reduction in power, just not a dramatic one.

A guy on another forum is making 150sq with his RB racing Blackhole on his 124" He cussed it at first due to another issue he couldn't find. Then he fixed whatever was holding it back, presto 150HP and TQ. He will try a custom Burns exhaust soon but that is apples to oranges as the Blackhole will be waaaaaayy quieter than the Burns.
