Hi there. I just bought a basket case WLA engine. I do not have any rolling chassis. The prices of WLA frames are very high in France where I live. No less than 1500 bucks. The prices of stock or aftermarket big twin frames (shovelheads for instance) are quite reasonable (around 800 bucks or even less). So I plan to mount a WLA engine in such a frame (big twin frame), and to use an Harley four speed transmission or a british pre-unit transmission. Does anyone have some experience about it, or even better blueprints about the transformations which had to be done for the Big Twin frame to receive an WLA engine ? The WLA engine only produces 24 HP, It will look small in a big twin frame. Maybe an early triumph or BSA frame. Anything can be done, the trick is to get the loop frame built under the engine.

 

It will drop straight into a Norton featherbed frame with the Norton four speed tranny etc. No modifications to the frame necessary. Just make up engine plates to suit the WLA cases.
