Default I love this place but it's driving me crazy

HDForums.com is my go-to place for Harley info. It has the most informed members and, for the most part, I can get straight forward answers to some pretty basic questions.

But the site itself drives me nuts.

Why does it take so frikken long for each page to load ?

I go to the log in page and I have to wait before it will accept my log in characters.

I have to wait for it to log me in....

I have to wait a really long time before the page is loaded and I can even scroll down the page.

It does seem to be tied to the amount of time it takes for streaming ads to load to the page.

If it's just me or my computer, my apologies. But I don't have this problem with any other site I visit.

I won't give up, there is too much good info here, but it really gets frustrating.

I love the site also, but there are a lot of ads.

How is your internet connection speed? I can see where a slower connection could get very frustrating on this site.

Must be your computer or internet connection.
I have no issues at all, all pages load in less than a second or two.

As for the ads, use an ad blocker if you think that's an issue.

472 it isn't your computer. Not to speak in a techy manner, but the ads are overlays on top of the original forum software. So when the page loads, you get the forum portal (base forum software) then before it can load the other segments, all of e 200 ads have to load. So yea, it so slow and takes a while.

When I first signed up over 6 years ago, there was nothing like is. Times change, I understand that, but it should be for the better, not worse.

They need to hire someone who knows how to makes these ads work correctly. I do, so hire me

There was an occasion awhile back that this forum was having some issues but after their techs worked on it, I don't have any issues whatsoever with slowness, maybe it is something else rather than just this forum that is causing your slowness, just an idea.

I run Google Chrome + Add Block Plus...no problems at all!

Perhaps it's time for you to clean up your computer and remove all cookies?

I was just going to ask the same question Russ but you beat me to it. I just tried what ^ FXD2003Rider said and it works much faster. I switched to Chrome and did the Adblocker+ download.

Ad Block+ was the answer for me. Site loads quick now. So does other sites! I use it with Firefox.

At least it DOES load pages for you. Here, I can open about 3 pages then the forum stalls, the server stops responding and all I get is the "the page cannot be displayed" message. I have to wait about 5-10 minutes for the forum to begin working again and load the page.

I'm with ya on this, OP...I've had all the same things, PLUS...the damn page 'twitches' all over the place when I'm trying to open a page or write a response...VERY irritating. Now, I understand that ads are what pays for me being able to have the pleasure of participating here, but man...enough to make a guy drink.
