Default Advice on prepping lowers for PC?

I've got a spare set of lowers for my '14 SGS that I'm going to have powder coated this winter. On top of the obvious, removing the reflector, how else would you experienced paint/PC guys prep the lowers? I would have to assume the sections of rough cast, if not smoothed, would show through the powder coat, right? And the regular "dull" finish on the rest of the factory lowers has a clear coat over it that has to be removed, correct? I was thinking of taking some emery cloth and wet sanding the whole thing until the entire surface looked uniform. Or maybe a not too aggressive scuff wheel on a die grinder?

Wink

You could save yourself a lot of effort by contacting our resident expert, HDF sponsor and powder coater Joe of Powder Pro. Pop over to this thread for details and some of his handiwork.

thank you sir... just spray them out with some brake clean or even dish soap and water, to get the oil out and that is about it. we will take care of everything after that

Well, I've got a local guy who does my PC work. And he gives me a pretty hefty discount if I bring the parts in prepped. Everything I brought him so far has been chrome so I just sand blast it, this is the first time I'm having to prep a rough cast surface tho, that's why I'm asking.
