Question Replacing fork springs and oil 09 Sportster

Getting ready to replace my front fork springs with Progressives. Thinking fork oil has never been changed so plan to do that as well. Would like to do with as little wailing and gnashing of teeth, and mess, as possible.
All parts and tools on order. Here's my plan as it stands (pending revisions based on tips from you):

1- Jack up bike
2- Loosen upper tree clamp bolts
3- Remove fork caps
4- Remove fork oil drain screws
5- Allow to drain for some time
6- Remove factory springs and spacers/washers
7- Lower bike and compress forks several times to ensure all oil out (this is where I expect to have to work to minimize mess, have no helper)
8- Raise bike again and allow to drain a bit more
9- Replace drain screws and sealing washers with new
10- Install new springs/spacers/washers
11- Fill with new oil (BelRay 7w)
12- Reinstall caps
13- Wait for decent weather

Am I missing anything? Never done this before, probably over-thinking it. Any tips appreciated!

Before you lift the bike and while it is still on terra firma, slacken all the fasteners in your list. As you rebuild nip up the same fasteners, then put back on it's wheels and repeat item 7. That settle everything, after which you can tighten the fork clamps, axle nut etc.

Of course, if you don't already have one then item 0 is to buy yourself a factory service manual!
