Default Steering stops

Are the small "nubs" on the lower triple tree that act as the steering stop necessary? If one is broken off, is it necessary to replace the tree?

thanks

Default RE: Steering stops

They were put there to keep the forks from hitting the tank. Your choice as to whether you want to replace the tree because of the broken one. Cheaper than fixinga dentedtank.
