Here comes a long question, I apologize in advance, but I am looking for alternatives to the fat tire kits for my FXST-I.

I have a 2004 Softail Standard and would like to know if a 200mm tire will fit in the original swingarm. I know I would have to replace the fender and cut the struts off, but would a fender from a later model FXST fit and has anyone used a bolt-on strut with the new fender? Would I have to replace the final-drive belt with a more narrow belt and would that require transmission work.

Is this worth exploring or should I stick with a kit from PM, Heartland, or some other brand?
