I have not PACKED my 09 FLHR YET with grease.. I understand that it takes upwards of 88 pumps from a hand gun...
I plan to do this BUT just wondered what type of grease DOES HD use.?. If I don't get an answer here I would ask at the dealer when there....
I know that the best thing to do when apart is to Clean out all the lube/grease that is in there.
I would IF APART to install NEW Bearings and races, I would go with packing them with a Good Quality Blue trailer wheel bearing BLUE/GREEN Grease.
That grease Doesn't MIX with the normal molly grease BUT when cleaned out and fresh bearings/races, it does a better job and Last a long time. Keeps the water elements out better. (.)
Suggestion told me.
If you wrap a shoelace around the bottom of the Head Tube when Pumping in the grease, that will help grease TO come out the top of bearing area so it is NOW full.
